If there is one thing we all have in common, it would probably be battling horrendous traffic jams as we go about our daily routines. Lately, this has been everyone's "new normal" and somehow, when it becomes too frequent, we all dream of going on a relaxing staycation just to break free from the unwanted stress that comes along with the "new routine".
The invitation for a weekend staycation at the posh and luxurious Marriot Hotel, Manila couldn't have come at a better time. It was a Monday when I got the invitation, but really my mind was already fast forwarded to Saturday. In between those days of waiting, I didn't seem to mind the hours of traffic I was battling. In my mind, I was already envisioning a relaxing weekend staycation in one of Manila's top hotels.
The room rate for an Executive Deluxe Room, is PHP 10,600++ which comes with breakfast at The Marriott Café. We had a queen-sized bed in the room with a reading chair and an ottoman on the side. It was perfect to just gaze out into the beautiful view and we also loved the generous amount of natural light that comes into our room.
We had these yummy treats in the room when we walked in: Mango everything! - Mango fruit, dried mango slices, fresh mango shake and a mango bar. It was gone in an instant.
The room also had an Ipod/Ipad/IPhone dock where you can play your favorite tunes in the comforts of your own room. It also has a tuner just in case, you just want to listen to the radio.
There is a huge 48-inch HDTV in the room. It's great for catching your favorite TV programs or it could also mean, instant movie night! There is a DVD player in the room, so you can bring your favorite movie DVD's for a fun movie night. Don't forget to order some munchies from room service for that total movie experience.
A writing desk was also in the room, just in case you need to open your laptop and connect to the internet.
Our room had a beautiful view of the Villamor Golf & Country Club. We love the view of lush greenery, birds flying over, and at night, it was a sea of stars.
For now, I want to see the city from this distance - afar.
When the toilet & the bathroom is this pretty, we make a wefie!
There is no limit to the bottles of water you can consume in your room. Just call for more and they will send it to your room free of charge. Mickey and I are huge water drinkers, so this was a major plus for us.
The bathroom counter is big enough that you can have a his and hers area. Of course, I would have to be on the left side. We girls need access to that power outlet for our hair dryer and hair styling irons and that wall mirror, right ladies?
The buttons on the right are for the lights the buttons on the left is for a unique feature
or down at any given time
The bathroom amenities were from Thann, these are products that use natural ingredients
There is also a coffee and tea-making facility in the room
A stock-filled personal ref to keep those drinks chilled at all times
A personal safe is also in the room where you can keep your valuables in
An iron and an ironing board, for those last minute zhooshing, before going out for an awesome night out
We went around the hotel a bit and decided to go to the second level
The Health Club had a huge fitness area that had state of the art treadmills to keep your heart rate up and healthy
They also had elliptical machines
There are also some free weights for those who want a more challenging work-out
Mickey tries the lat pull down machine
and the leg extension machine
In the same floor as the Health Club are the swimming pool, Quan Spa and a salon. You can also find the Business Center, Meeting Rooms, The Den and The Hub on this floor.
We also had access to the Executive Lounge. During our staycation, we frequented the Executive Lounge when we needed to. I personally think that having access to the lounge from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. during the entire stay was worth it. You never have to leave the comforts of the hotel, after all, it's a staycation, right? Here are the complimentary benefits of the Executive Lounge pass:

The following day, on our way to breakfast at The Marriott Café, we couldn't help but notice The Great Room. It is the focal point of the hotel lobby.
On the side of the bar, we spotted these wine bottles housed in what looked like posh wine vending machines.
You can purchase wine in 3 different sizes: Taste-size, Half-size and Full-size wine glass. Just pull off a wine glass from under the wine vending machines, and choose your preferred wine and size. Happy drinks in an instant!
Just outside the Great Room is my favorite chill place in Marriott Hotel, Manila. I don't think a lot of people know about this outdoor area. I love that this area is subdued and most of all, it's outdoors. This photo was taken in the morning so the sun is a bit bright at this time, but the best time to be here is in the late afternoon and almost at sunset. It is one of the best places to enjoy good company, a glass of wine and beautiful cheese plate.
Now, it is time for breakfast buffet at the newly renovated Marriott Café.
Make your own noodle soup station
Pancakes, anyone?
Honey glazed ham, reminds me of Christmas!
Slices of black forest ham
A variety of cheeses with dried fruits and nuts
You can also have fresh fruits sliced and delivered to your table
Fruit juices, milk cartons and yogurt
The breakfast pastry spread
Vegetable dishes
A chocolate fondue station
Ice cream and gelato on the breakfast buffet spread. Love it!
