Singapore has a lot of celebrity chef restaurants and for some reason in Asia they seem to converge in this one beautiful country. Since we don't have a lot of international celebrity chef restaurant's in the Philippines, this Singapore trip is also about trying their recipes.
If there's one person who is very excited about this part of the trip, it would have to be Mickey. He is a fan of Jamie Oliver's cooking shows at the Asian Food Channel. It was a good thing he had a restaurant near Sentosa Island at their Jamie's Italian inside Vivo City Mall. That night, we tried Jamie's evening favourites, which comprises of three courses for S$39.90 per person (or P1,396 per person).
After watching a lot of his cooking on TV, it's now time to taste the real thing. Come inside and take a peek!
You know what's coming, right?
They say that Happy Hour is the best hour at Jamie's Italian
I love the colors in here! The relaxed space is the
perfect spot for weekday lunches, a mid-shopping pit stop and weekend
dinners. The al-fresco area is also ideal for a sunny cup of
coffee with friends.
The graffitti on the wall is by Jamie Oliver's long time friend, urban artist, Barnaby Purdy
Here's what we had for dinner:
Cured Meat Plank
Fennel Salami, pistachio, mortadella, prosciutto, & Schiacciata piccante with mini buffalo mozzarella, pecorino & chilli jam, pickles and olives
Crab & Avocado Bruschetta
Fresh white & brown crab, crunchy fennel, smashed avocado, yoghurt and chilli
Our Famous Prawn Linguine
Garlicky prawns with tomatoes, capers, roasted sun-dried tomatoes and creamy mozzarella
Chicken Pizzaiola Pizza
Sweet tomato sauce, olives, capers, roasted sun-dried tomatoes and creamy mozzarella
Amalfi Lemon Meringue Cake
Velvety mascarpone and lemon cheesecake topped with Italian meringue, served with lemon curd and blackcurrants
Creamy Panna Cotta
Vanilla panna cotta with a seasonal fruit compote
We loved the tasty meats, the refreshing salad, the healthier choice pizza and the yummy desserts. However, the pasta dish, more specifically the linguine's texture was different for our taste, we asked the restaurant staff about it and he said that their pasta linguine are all made in the restaurant. Maybe we are just used to the al dente texture of a dried pasta. But overall, it was a very good experience trying Jamie's Italian restaurant at Vivo City.
